Current Affairs Media Project

Do you ever stop and think about how the news that we listen to and rely on to educate and inform us is delivered to us? The purpose of this assignment is to examine news articles from various decades and note the changes of the stories that are told and how they are told.

For example, if you browse a newspaper or magazine from the 1950’s and then one from the 1990’s you will find a remarkable difference in the news that actually makes the paper and the manner in which it is reported.

You are to choose two articles from the following time periods and give an overview of each.

The last part of the project is the meaningful part, as I want you to report the differences that you observed decade to decade.

What is the most obvious difference? What are the similarities? Which do you think is more reliable?

The decades you will be gathering information from are:

1950’s

1960’s

1970’s

1980’s

1990’s

2000-present
